Difference between OSPF Designated Router and IS-IS DIS are

 OSPF defines DR and Back DR where as in IS-IS there is no need for backup DIS
 Router with highest priority is configured as DIS in IS-IS where as router with highest configured router ID is selected as DR in OSPF
 OSPF DR uses the multicast IP address 224.0.0.5 to send LSA to other routers in Non Broadcast Multi-Access networks whereas ISIS DIS uses unicast messages for communication in NBMA networks.
